About my business We’re a company specialising in plant genetics that provides services to the seed industry using proprietary methodologies. We also act as an importer and domestic distributor of seeds and test kits for laboratory use in the seed industry. Our customers are both growers as well as companies that produce seed and phytosanitary products both in Argentina and abroad.

Problems that my business faced

The biggest issue that I was facing was how to accurately track my inventory levels. I also wanted a single location where I am able to track all my sales and purchases and the relevant documentation.

Previously, I was using Excel spreadsheets to generate and track quotations, purchase orders, as well as to keep a registry of products, prices, inventories, suppliers and customers. All the documentation was stored both locally and in the cloud.

This required me to constantly update my databases and retrieve scattered documents. My main concern had to do with the scalability of my business and how the spreadsheet workflow was not helping me grow my sales funnel.

How EMERGE has helped us?

EMERGE has served as data repository, centralising our databases and documentation. It has also optimised our daily operations by allowing us to generate and correlate quotations and sale orders sent to our customers, purchase orders sent to our suppliers, and shipment tracking information. We have avoided data entry tasks and it has provided us with a better system for managing our relationship with our customers.

From a business development standpoint, being able to easily visualise all of this information -- while also generating different ad hoc reports -- has allowed us to improve our budgeting and forecasting accuracy.

It has also left us with more time and resources for other tasks such as finding new suppliers, keeping a permanent stock of certain products, and reaching agreements with our freight forwarder to decrease our shipping costs.
